Title: Help please with two Beatrice GRAYS
Post by: Poppy Rose on Wednesday 31 October 12 20:20 GMT (UK)
Hi everyone :)
Hoping some kind person can help. I have two queries:

Does anyone know the maiden name of Beatrice the wife of Henry or Harry Gray or Grey, hawker or has come across their marriage? The 1911 census states Beatrice and Harry had been married 13 years. They had at that time 7 children and were living in Guestwick in Norfolk. Beatrice was born in Norwich.

The other Beatrice was the daughter of William and Sylvester Gray. This Beatrice was also born in Norwich. She appears in the 1881 census with her parents in West Rudham, Norfolk. Has anyone come across her marriage or death or anything about her after 1881?

Thank you

I can't find a marriage for Beatrice b1878/1881 and Harry 1877  They don't seem to have moved out of Norfolk at all judging by their and their children's birthplaces in 1901 and 1911.

By the way their daughter Nellie Gray born Sept 1/4 1899 wasn't with them in 1901 census? I can't find her either. Thought she may have been with grandparents (mother's parents) which would have been real handy.

If all else fails buying the birth certificate of their daughter will give Beatrice's maiden name.

Thank you Crisane for all your help with the queries. :)

It would certainly have helped if Nellie was staying with Beatrice's parents in the 1901 census.

Henry Gray born 1875 Aylsham "married" Beatrice Lamb d/o John James Lamb of Hockham or is it Holkham?  I can't find the marriage either.

I am related to the Gray's as well who married into the Harris's aka Lamb, Wray and Osborne.

Hi Lesley

The Wrights I'm researching were from Necton / Little Dunham / Sporle and the Ramms were from Barney / Fakenham / (New) Houghton.

Any connection? :)

I have Ramms of New Houghton connected to my husband's side of the family  - Ann Ramm 1865 married to Henry Johnson.  Their son Horace Charles Johnson went to Canada and married Flossie Ellen Phillips (husbands Gt Aunt from Yeovil, Somerset - she was shipped out to Canada as a Home Child - a very sad story).

I have various branches of Wright from Tittleshall, East Dereham, Longham, Fakenham.

Is there any connections here?

Hi Lesley

It looks as if Ann Ramm's father Henry and my 2 x Great Grandmother Mahala Ramm were first cousins. Henry Ramm's father John and Mahala's father Thomas were brothers and sons of William Ramm and Elizabeth (formerly Rudd). :)
