Advised that sysinfo.ocx is 'missing' every time I switch on Windows XP.
Have seen several offers of free download/fix but am wary of using any of them until I'm sure that they are safe to do so.
Has anyone had this same problem and, if so, can they advise me which download/fix to use?
thank you,
doxin

According to http://www.almuseo.com/sysinfo-ocx-windows-7.php try system restore to an earlier time.

Hi Both,
Many thanks for your interest.
I have tried almuseo site but, despite appearing to be a free download, it ultimately wanted payment to activate 'fix'
I wouldn't mind if I thought it would cure problem but not sure that it would.

System Restore is available on XP

Stan,
The error notice has been appearing for some time now and PC has been functioning OK in the meantime.
Using system restore, which I have done on previous occasions for other problems, would lose me too much data on this occasion.
thanks again,

System Restore does not affect personal files, such as e-mail, documents, or photos. I have used System Restore and it does not affect any of my family history data files.

You should not download any Windows element from anywhere other than a Microsoft CD or from Microsoft themselves !
How do you know that you're not downloading a virus infected file ?
