Post by: keithjames on Thursday 25 October 12 23:37 BST (UK)
I have been trying to verify the Marriage of my GG Grand Parents, JOSEPH SPUNNER PALMER and Mary QUIN/QUINN without success. The details on his Death Certificate are:
JOSEPH SPUNNER PALMER, DATE OF DEATH   23 OCT 1868, GOVERNMENT FLAT, NEAR MAITLAND NSW. OCCUPATION   FARMER, AGE   52
PLACE OF BIRTH   GALWAY IRELAND
TIME IN AUST COLONIES   ABOUT 26 YEARS IN THIS COLONY
FATHER   SAMUEL JOHN PALMER, OCCUPATION   MILLER
MOTHER   ELIZABETH SPUNNER

PLACE OF MARRIAGE   CHRIST CHURCH DUBLIN
AGE AT MARRIAGE   1833
NAME OF SPOUSE   MARY QUINN

maybe they weren't married then?  They definitely (re?)married 20 Nov 1843 at St Josephs Roman Catholic Church, MAITLAND, NSW, Australia.
Their son George was baptised: Area - DUBLIN (RC) , Parish/Church/Congregation - ST. NICHOLAS
Baptism of GEORGE PALMER of N/R on 12 April 1841
Name   GEORGE PALMER
Date of Birth   N/R N/R N/R
Address   N/R
Father   JOSEPH PALMER
Mother   MARY QUIN

Any guidance or assistance in verifying the marriage will be gratefully received.

HI, from your post I am presuming you have a marriage record for Christchurch Dublin.  Why would they re-marry in Australia? :)

What denomination were Joseph & Mary Quinn? Where was Mary born?

Thank you for your reply. The verbal family history is that Joseph Spunner PALMER was a Protestant and he was disowned for marrying a Roman Catholic; but Joseph seems to be a Roman Catholic name.  I have no confidence in verbal family history.  They were married in a Roman Catholic Church in East Maitland, NSW, Australia.
