Title: HILLOCK, CHRISTIE AND McCURRACH
Post by: ChicaJH on Thursday 25 October 12 03:04 BST (UK)
Hi Everyone:

I'm also trying to track down "Sandy" HILLOCK (maybe Sandy is short for Alexander?).  Specifically, am looking for Sandy's daughter's birth and death dates.  She never married so her name was always Ina Hillock.  I think her sister was called Robina (nickname Beanie) and there was another girl in the family too but I don't have her name.

The CHRISTIE and McCURRACH families were also from Fife. James McCurrach  married Catherine Christie (born abt 1857 and died on December 28, 1906).  I think Catherine's parents were James Christie and Christina Morrison.  I'm looking to fill in some dates/places and also for a connection to the Morton family further back (I think it would be one generation further than Christina Morrison).

Thanks for your help.

Hi

Is this the family in the 1901 Census -  Alexander Hillock 43  B Kinghorn   (Boiler-maker)
Robina Hillock 44    b Burntisland, Fife
                                                              Thos Hillock 12       b Kinghorn
                                                              Robina Hillock 10             "
Alexandrina Hillock 5        "     are living at 69 Gallowgate, Kinghorn, Fife

In the 1891 Census -   Andrew Hillock
                                      Robina Hillock
                                      Christina Hillock 7
Thomas Hillock 2  They are also living at 69 Gallowgate, Kinghorn.

As the above were taken from Ancestry some of the facts me have been wrongly transcribed.

As they were all born in Scotland and before 1911 you can for a fee download and view their births on the Scotlandpeoples website.

Do you have a tree on Ancestry?

     Regards

Hi.

Thanks so much for your reply.  I don't have a tree on Ancestry that I know of (unless someone else in the family made one).  I'm pretty new at this.  The Hillock information looks great though.  Thanks so much for sharing it with me.  I think you're right about some of it being a bit off - Alexandrina could appear in the time between 1891 and 1901 but Christina seems to have disappeared.  One of them is right as I expect the "Ina Hillock" I am looking for would have been short for one or the other of those names.  Thos must be Thomas too, I think.

Thanks again for your help!  Much appreciated!!
