Smith Raistrick 1818-1898 is my 3rd Great Grandfather.
I have quite a bit of material about the Raistrick family but am having more trouble with his wife's. He married Maria Smith in 1838. Her father was mentioned as John clothier of Idle, mother's name Sarah.
I am not currently able to link Maria to a John or a John/Sarah.
I have found a couple of likely John Sarah marriages in Idle and also one in nearby Bradford but nothing that proves a link to Maria.
There is also a John Smith of a suitable age in the 1841 and 1851 census but he is then a widower and living with his daughter Henrietta's family (the Oddy's). Henrietta was also the daughter of a John and a Sarah and it would be tempting to see her as Maria's older sister if Smith was not such a frequent surname and Sarah had not been sych a popular first name at the time.
Any thoughts on where else to look for more corroboration?

Could this be them?
Henrietta Smith b 1 Nov 1814 bapt 27 Nov 1814 Holy Trinity Idle
f John Clothier m Sarah abode Idle
Maria Smith b 28 May 1820 bapt 17 Sep 1820 Holy Trinity Idle
F John Clothier m Sarah abode Simpson Green

Thanks.
They could be but I found three different John Smith - Sarah marriages each of which has a date which would allow them to be parents of one or both of Maria and Henrietta. What I am wondering is whether there might be some other means of corroborating a linkage between Maria and one of the these three Smith marriages when there are no census records showing sibling names together.

Mm..
Not sure that this is going to help either way
More baptisms at Holy Trinity Idle
Perhaps there are two John & Sarah’s given the birth date
of Henrietta & Thos, father John’s occupation Clothier
Thos Smith b 9 Apr bapt 22 May 1814 Holy Trinity Idle
F John Clothier m Sarah abode Idle
Mary Smith b 8 May bapt 21 May 1815
F John Clothier m Sarah abode Park Hill
26 Mar 1855 St Peter Bradford (Bradford Cathedral)
Thomas Smith age 43 Clothier f John Clothier
Married widow Martha Coates f Joseph Lee
Henrietta Smith married Ibbotson Oddy Delver
St Wilfrid Calverley on 10 Sep 1826
Both of this parish
So the Henrietta Smith baptism 1814 may be a little young to have married Ibbotson :-\

Perhaps the naming of Smith & Maria’s children may hold a clue - looks as if they
haven't named a dau Henrietta but they do have a son named Thomas
Sarah, THOMAS, Judith, Oliver, Matthew H, Joseph, Martha Ann, James S, Selina

Thanks.
I think Henrietta was born several years earlier. 1803 I think just the baptism delayed to 1814. These date issues also affected the census listing where the transcriber had put John down as younger than his daughter. There was a heavy mark across the age column making it hard to make out.

I can see your dilemma especially as Henrietta Oddy has a dau named Maria on 1851 census and a dau named Sarah on 1841c
father in law John Smith's age looks to read 76

Thanks to Brian that confirms born 1803

Thanks. Had not spotted Henrietta's children's names. I was focusing on her and John. They do provide a bit of corrobaration that the John living with Henrietta is related to Maria.
