Hello All,
My 3 x g grandfather Richard Longden, according to his children's baptismal records and his death notice in the Times of India was a pensioned Sgt Maj late of 4th Regiment Madras Native Infantry. He died on 30 Dec 1866 in Arcot Madras. Where would I be able to find out more about his military career the pension he was paid and his family? All I know is that is that he was 73 when he died.
I live in Australia so going to the British Library or the Kew records office are not an option.
Any help would be much appreciated

Dear George4
Thanks for the info. My problem is that I can't access these record as I live in Australia. I think I'll have to employ a researcher.
