An ancestor of mine called Edward Holt apparently, according to his marriage in 1853, had a father Richard Holt (Joiner).
Edward was born in Bolton in 1824/25 according to various census data.
I haven't been able to find a baptism for Edward or any further information about Richard.
If anyone could help I would be very grateful.

The best bet I can come up with is the lad baptised 25 Feb 1826 at Holcombe.
He was born at Summerseat, son of Richard & Martha.
It's possible that the family moved to Bolton when Edward was young and he did not know where he was really born.
Father Richard appears to have had several occupations. Weaving, spinning and stone mason are mentioned at baptisms, and he was an overlooker when Edward was born. The marriage at Bury of Richard Holt and Martha Horrox looks likely to be Edward's parents.

Many thanks for your help.
I have no idea about whether it is the same family.
I have some vague information about a Richard and Edward Holt in the 1841 census but not the full details. apparently they were living at Pikes Lane Great Bolton.
