Title: A date and ages please
Post by: Nanny on Wednesday 17 October 12 20:26 BST (UK)
I received this photo  from a relative in the hopes that I could identify the couple.  Well I'm stumped so am asking if anyone could guess the approximate age of the couple and when it was taken.  Thank you for
looking.

Wonderful photo!  1890s is my guess - China or Jim will be able to narrow that down for you when they come online  :)

They look relatively young, perhaps in their 30s or into their 40s?

My guesstimate would be early 40's.  Hope they treated their kids better than the family dog ;D  He's flat out like a lizard drinking

Cheers

Thanks Prue. I also think the photo is wonderful but it would even be better if I could figure out who

they were.  I agree it was taken 1890s.  My guess was 1895ish but was hoping they would be seen as older.

Maureen:  "flat out like a lizard drinking"  -  Before I looked I knew where I would find you living  ;D

Once I find out who they are I'll know how they treated their kids.  Thanks for your input.

Those leg-o-mutton sleeves were in fashion 1893-1897, and got progressively more ridiculous. I'm thinking around 1897 if the lady has kept up, and maybe a couple of years later if she's behind the curve.

How did she get through doorways? ;D

Cheers,
China

Good on you Nanny  ;D  I agree China those sleeves make her look like too much sausage meat squeezed into to small casings - a very unfortunate look  :o IMO that does not add one iota to her 'hourglass or reubenesque' figure

Cheers
