Title: Portslade cemeteries
Post by: Lorraine L on Tuesday 16 October 12 23:33 BST (UK)
Are there any records searchable online for burials in portslade ?
As i only assume that the Boniface couple were buried, i am not sure which cemetary to search and of course, i would prefer not to wonder around graves unless i know where i should be looking. Thanks in advance.

It would probably be the Hove one (which is huge) on either side of A259 Old Shoreham Rd. Don't think there is on line look up though

Hello Kevin,
Sadly I seem to have killed my laptop which had all of my family history on it  ::)
The people in question were Henry and Susannah Boniface of Elm Road Portslade. I seem to remember that they died approx 1925 ? They certainly died within a couple of years of each other.
Any help is gratefully received as I would like to read any inscriptions if there are graves.
Thank you

If you go on the Brighton and hove website and type in cemetery's it will give u email contact address of the different cemetery's and you can ask them to look up to find the people in question and were abouts they are buried .not everyone is buried in hove cemetery as there is a cemetery up bear road in Brighton with people from all over the county or they could even be buried in a church graveyard as theres quite a few churches in portslade and hove with headstones

Thanks so much for your help guys. I believe that the Susannah date is the one I am looking for but not sure which Henry. I seem to remember that a family member said it was a Portslade cemetery so the Victoria rd might be correct ? I wonder if I e mail them, they will tell me ?

Yes try emailing them as I know when I emailed wood ale cemetry they were more than happy to locate the name for me but unfortunatly they couldn't find it but suggested I tried the private cemetry across the road from them .i have noticed a few Boniface surnames on tomb stones in the one in hove  it stood out because I use to care for an old lady called Lillian Boniface and it reminded me off her.she pased away about 8 year ago now . tried next time im there I'll have a look

I presume they were husband and wife? If so, unless he was 20 years younger than his wife, the older one seems more likely, although Hailsham is a fair distance from Portslade. Possibly he was visiting or was in hospital there as deaths are recorded in the place of death, not where you normally live.

Hi
Susannah and Henry are both buried in Portslade cemetry off Victoria Road.  Susannah in plot KK106 and Henry plot KK128, both plots are unmarked.  I went hunting a few years ago!

Best wishes
