Hello
I am looking for more info on George Collison born c 1873 Hastings. He appears in the 1901 and 1911 censuses as such but I can't find him any earlier than this. I am directly related to Collisons of Headcorn, Kent.
Any help gratefully received.
Helen

Could this be his birth registration? Note the surname.
George Collinson March 1874 reg district Hastings vol 2b page 37
George Collison and Charlotte Matilda J Jenner marriage FreeBMD
Sept 1/4 1899 Reg district Cranbrook (which includes Goudhurst) vol 2a page 1691
If all else fails then buying the marriage cert will give you the name of George's father.
I can't find him as yet prior to 1901. Maybe following his grandmother matilda Blackman back through the censuses would give a clue.
I presume I have the correct George Collison? :)

I have asked the moderator whether your inquiry should be given a thread of its own.
I see from the 1891 census that Matilda Blackman is actually Charlotte Jenner's grandmother.
RG12/695/27/14
She and her siblings are living with Matilda in Little Jerusalem Goudhurst
So no help in finding George Collison in 1881/91.

Thanks so much for such a quick response! I am wondering if George might be related to Trayton mentioned below because he had children born in Hastings. However, I have tracked all the children born and they all seem to have married before the birth of George and no-one seems to fit. Never mind! A mystery!
Thanks again for your time and trouble.

Hi and welcome
I have split your post off to see if it gets greater coverage as a new request. As suggested, it may mean buying the marriage certificate as not only will you get his father's name but witnesses are often family members too.
Can you give us the full details from the census records you have?
