Hi,
I have a great Uncle who was in the Army but later turned up in the Navy using another Uncles first name. Anyway I have recently found a service record for his army portion and it looks like he was thrown out but I cant decipher the writing, see attached. Any suggestions appreciated.

Quite interesting, He was granted leave on the 18.11.11 and declared a deserter the same day 18.11.11
Not sure of the Army Regs back then but in my day you weren't declared a deserter until 28 days after you should have been back with the unit , this guy hasn't even been declared AWOL.

Unless there is something else not visible on the document, perhaps it says failed to return from leave 18.11.11

The third column shows 2nd so perhaps this refers to writings further up the page.
If he was convicted and imprisoned whilst on leave then the 'Leave 18.11.11' would be his last day of official leave and the next day, as he was unable to rejoin his unit, would perhaps be the first day of his desertion.
The writing at the bottom in red shows the info, presumably about being convicted by civil powers, is dated 18.3.12 hence his discharge from the Army on 21.3.12. Perhaps he was often in trouble in the Army and they decided to discharge him. Which would explain why he later joined the Navy using his uncle's name.
