I am looking to further my family tree on the Compton side.
I know that William James Compton reported the death of his (assumed to be first) wife Margaret in January 1864 and I know that my ancestor Henry was born before then (~1858) and therefore also before civil registration.
Given that I am not in NI and am thus restricted to what is available on the internet does anyone know how I could find out more e.g. their marriage and children's baptisms etc.? I am a bit confused by Ballymena Presbyterian churches changing names etc. so it may be 3rd or West or Wellington St (or maybe they are different names for the same thing at different times). Any help anyone can give very much appreciated!

Possibility-
William Compton, son of Henry Compton, married 26 Aug.1851 Kirkinriola to Margaret Bleekly, daughter of John Bleekly.

Maybe a second marriage?
William James Compton, widower, son of Henry Compton, married 18 Mar.1867 to Margaret Smyth, spinster, daughter of James Smyth.

Thanks aghadowey! Someone over on a different message board here: http://boards.ancestry.com/localities.britisles.ireland.ant.general/16629.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx has confirmed your suggestions by finding baptism records tying the mother's maiden name in.

Hello SM
Is your Montgomery family also from Ballymena?
Mine are, but left there in 1840 to come to Australia.

Hi Dawn,
Not so far as I know—I have them in Cogry or Coggrey townland back to early 1800s. That is near Doagh and Ballyclare which is somewhat south east of Ballymena.
All the best,
Stephen

Hi, Do you require any more information on the Comptons of Galgorm /Ballymena
I am new to this site and your posting does not give the year it was posted -
We have just finished researching the Comptons of Ballymena as William J Compton is my GG Grandfather -- we are descended from his son John Compton who went to Scotland as a coal Miner.
We have most of the original records from PRONI online.
We have pictures of William and His fathers (my GGG Grand fathers) Grave at Kirkinrola
as well as all the Churches.
Please let me know if you require any information.

Thanks that sounds very interesting indeed! Not sure what the best way is to get in touch? I am out and about so probably won't be able to reply for a while. Thanks again!
