Can anyone tell me what is the best website for looking up a Glasgow grave. I am trying to find a Marion Young (mainden name Reilly) born in 1928 in Bridgeton.
She died in 1966 as Marion Young aged 38 in Glasgow. I am trying to find out where she is buried.

Hi Cammey,
It could be any one of a number of places, depending on where she lived/died, where other members of her family were buried etc. What area of Glasgow was she living in when she died?
Best wishes

thanks Rockford,
I am doing this for a friend so I only have the basic details. I have contacted her to get some more information.

Was she RC? That might narrow down the search.

If you know the date of death then you could look through the announcements in the Glasgow Herald for a few days after. This may give details of the funeral,
http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=GGgVawPscysC
If it's not there then perhaps try the Evening Times,
http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=2mus-XyGPC0C
Searching www.DeceasedOnline.com for 1965-7 shows a couple of cremations in Edinburgh for this name. The free results include the dates of death. This site only has a small proportion of the country's records, so unless the family had a strong connection with Edinburgh then this is probably not her.
The death cert can be ordered from Scotland's People.

Hi There, thank you all for your help on this one. I have searched through the Evening times and Glasgow Herald attachments and can not find this on the anouncements. I have got some more information on the Death record. Marion Young Died 31.10.1966 at 301 Nuneaton Street Glasgow. Death was registered on the 01.11.1966. Parents William Reilly and Helen Reilly. The district was 644-6 entry number 852 in the Peoplescotland log. Does anyone know what the nearest cemetry to this district would have been? I think they would have been RC. Is there a way you can look up headstones in the various glasgow cemetries or is there somwhere these records are held?

Hi cammey Nuneaton st is in the Dalmarnock area of Glasgow quite close to Celtic Park or Bridgeton depending on your persuasion if your friends relative was RC then the Catholic church will in all probs hold their info the closest graveyard prob St Peters/Dalbeth on London Rd about half a mile from the address you have given.

There is a Marion Kelly Young (number 2315) buried in the cemetery beside Celtic Park (Janefield or the Eastern Necropolis they call it) but there is no death date, and I suspect because of that it may be a much older grave.
There is also a Catherine (Risk) Young (number 2313) died 30th Sep 1846 aged 66 and a Jean (Aitken) Young (number 2314) buried there, probably her relatives.
Try a google for Memento - Mori, Scotland, and a site for some graveyards in Glasgow and the surrounding districts comes up. Click it. ...Then see "Search Locations Indices" on right of the page that comes up. You will see St Peters on the list but her name isn't there. I also tried others and didn't see her.
The problem is that the records aren't always reliable. A person can be buried in a graveyard and might not be showing on the records. You really have to know where the person was buried and then contact that church or perhaps the Glasgow City Council and ask there for the records.
Also, although she was living at Nuneaton St, she may have been brought up in another area of Glasgow, and there might be a family grave there.
You could ask your friend if she knows if Marion Young had any connection with the name Kelly.

have you tried momento-mori.co.uk?
