Can anyone help with siblings and ancestors of Emma Jones (some say middle name Eliza) b.abt 1839 Glamorgan Wales. d. 18.1.1921 N.Z. (Father may of been James Jones).
And Evan Davies b.abt 1837 Wales or Ireland. d. 9.7.1877 N.Z. (Parents may of been Morgan & Jane Davies)
They married 12.3.1860 in Abergaverny co.monmouth Wales.

do you have a copy of the 1860 marriage cert? It would give names and occupations for the fathers and names of 2 witnesses that would help trace them in earlier census years. When did they arrive in NZ? Were they still here for the 1861 census?

NO I DON'T HAVE CERT. I AM NEW TO THIS AND REALLY HAVE NO IDEA WHERE TO GO TO GET IT, AND I AM NOT KEEN TO DO IT THROUGH CREDIT CARD ON COMPUTER. I AM WORRIED THAT THE CERT WOULD NOT HAVE MUCH ON THEM AND PROBABLY COST ALOT TO GET FROM NZ.
THIS IS WHY I THOUGHT I WOULD TRY THIS SITE TO SEE IF I COULD FIND OTHERS RELATED THAT MAY BE ABLE TO HELP.
THANKS.
DENISE.

there are 2 weddings 1860 1st quarter James Davies / Jane king. and Josiah Davies /Jane thomas .are these the right people abergavenny .haydon
sorry read it wrong.

with common names like Jones & Davies, you'll really need to get the cert as otherwise going further back would be guesswork. It costs no more to order from NZ than from anywhere in the UK, £9.25, but you will need to use a card. It will give you the names & occupations of the fathers, addresses for the couple, their ages, and the names of 2 witnesses who may be relations as well as where the marriage took place. Don't be tempted by adverts online, order only direct from the official site

using the reference march quarter 1860 Abergavenny vol 11a pg 131.
The marriage could be anywhere within the Abergavenny regisgtration district which covered many parishes at that time

You didn't say when they arrived in NZ, just in case they are on 1861 census.
By the way, it's not a good idea to type your post in capitals. It's not easy on the eyes!

Thanks for the site. Will have to wait abit before i can try to get the cert, but at least i know where to go now.
Don't know what year they came to NZ. It was before 1970 as their first child Margaret Eliza Jane Davies was born here apr 1870. She is my greatgrandmother. Guess that's anther detail i need to find out...when they came here to NZ.

they're not obvious on the 1861 census, but there are pieces missing from Monmouthshire.
