Can anyone tell me why Ishmael Pearson born 1773 Rochester Strood,Kent change his surname to Buckmaster. He was the son of Mathew and Sarah Pearson. Two other children's names were James Gordon Pearborn 1768 and Judith Clifford Pearson born 1771 Ishmael Buckmaster served in the Navy, also served on some of Lord Nelson's ship's.
Ishmael Buckmaster died in 1855 at South Shields.
