Any suggestions on the date of this photo?
If it is the person I think it is, he was born in 1904 and died in 1933, if that helps.
Or could it be his father born 1865 and died in 1911?
Thank you.

More likely his father. We'd like to see all of it please including the outer corners, also the back.
Cheers,
China

This is all I've got. My cousin sent me this via email, so I don't know what's on the back, but I would think that it's blank or she would know more about who it was. Sorry!

Here is the photo again showing as many of the corners as I can!
Thank you Wiggy for your advice (you know what I mean!!)

The reason we'd like to see the back is there is often dateable printing or design on it.
Still think it's the father....the shirt collar is early 1900s.

This is a young man probably late teens-early 20's so unlikely to be the father.I agree the collar looks early 1900's however on closer inspection it looks like a soft collar with tab as his tie is too far up for it to be starched but it is a poor image.
As China says we'd need to see exactly what it is.At present it looks like a CdeV which had just about had their day by the early 20's when I would suggest this was taken as his jacket & waistcoat are a post war style.

Looks like an albumen print to me, so I'd be surprised if it's as late as the 1920s. About the latest I'd expect to see one would be 1900ish...as the others have said, a better image of the whole thing, front and back, would really help the diagnosis ;)

Would these photos help? I know who the young man on the right is, Herbert, he was born in 1909.
The one on the left - the original picture I posted - is either his father or his brother.
The lady is Herbert's mother and either mother or wife of the original picture. Her picture was taken in 1929 and I would think in the same studio as the one of Herbert (same background).
The more I look at these pictures I think the young men were brothers as all three seem to have the same nose. What do you think?
-
Well Herbert sure looks like his mother.
The other guy has a leaner face, but of course that doesn't rule out him being Herbert's brother
(My brother and I look nothing like each other!)

I now have a scan of the back of the photos above. They are postcard type photos. The top one has the year 1930 stamped on it and is of Herbert above. The bottom one is the back of the original photo I first enquired about. It does look a lot older that the 1930 one, so could it fit in with James, born 1865 and died 1911.
Any suggestions gratefully received. Thank you for any help.

The Jerome postcard was prominent throughout the 1930s, but the back doesn't look like the standard one with the leaf print. Because of the white border around the photo, I would suggest 1915-1930ish.

This back was used in the early 20's but there's no reference to Jerome in the UK prior to that.By the late 20's the more ornate back was used.
His clothes style as expressed earlier is also 1920's.
