Title: St. Patrick's R.C. Records 1850s
Post by: stapler40 on Tuesday 25 September 12 23:50 BST (UK)
Hi there:

I'm in need of a search of the marriage records of St. Patricks R.C., Belfast, for the 1850s. I know these records are housed in PRNI but does anyone know of any online search engine.

Thanks

Hi,
PRONI has an e-catalogue - see proni e catalogue  However it will only show what records are available and not what they contain. If you let us know what you are looking for we may be able to help.

Regards

Registration of Catholic marriages didn't begin until 1864 so it will really depend on what records the church kept (and survive) before that date.

PRONI's church records are listed here:

Hi Stapler,

I'm pretty sure the Ulster Historical Foundation has virtually all of the Belfast RC marriages on their database.  It might be worth trying it out - it's at http://www.ancestryireland.com/database.php?filename=advanced_marriages
