Good evening all.
I have a marriage that I would like further details on if possible in bristol 1791, between my 5th g grandparents. George Gethin from Chapel Hill/Chepstow and a Mary Jacob. I would love to know if Mary was from Chepstow or from Bristol cant find any thing regarding Marys family. Would love some help on this or anything on the Gethin family and the riverboat operating between Chepstow/Chapel Hill and Bristol.
Thank you

I presume this is the Death Reg you have for George?
George GETHING, Sept 1841, Newport, 26 73
1841 Census has a Mary Gething c 1776, Independant, living in Newport with 1 Servant.
She is down as born in County
HO107/751/19/Newport
George may have been away from Home on Census night.
Death Reg for a Mary Gething, March 1842, Newport Mon, 26 81
For anyone who can look it up Marriage was;
Mary JACOB/George GEETHING, 26 October 1791, Bristol, Glous
( it is also down as 09 Oct)

Hi Trish
That is the correct family They moved from Chapel Hill, Tintern after marrying around about the 1790's to Chepstow then on to Newport. I found the census saying that Mary was born in county but cant find the Jacob family around in the area. So confused where to start looking for a church in Bristol.
Thanks for your help

Hi again,
The 1841 Census may be incorrect in having Mary born in County.
Unfortunately as she did not live til 1851 it is a problem.
Someone could look up the Marriage in Glous for you possibly.
It will not have Parents names but what Parish they are from may be there and Witnesses definitely will be there.
If you start a new query on the Glous Board asking for a look-up you may be lucky.
Trish :)

The marriage of George GETHING & Mary JACOB was at Temple, Bristol on 26 Oct 1791 and they were both of the parish...Register 3c, page 32, no 99 (which you will need if you want a copy of the original entry) No other information
