Title: O'Neill family? Mcdonnell street?
Post by: Annie111 on Tuesday 25 September 12 19:54 BST (UK)
Hi

I am looking to confirm whether the O'Neill family in 1911 census who lived at 72 Mcdonnell street (Luke Blake registered head of family) continued to live there after this date.

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Antrim/Falls__Belfast_/McDonnell/181340/

I am fairly new to all this and if anyone could offer advice that would be great!

I thought if anyone had street directory's for Belfast after this date they may be able to confirm that they continued to live there. If anyone is able to do this that would be brilliant! :)

By 1918 Luke Blake is at 25 Ward Street which ran from Leeson Street to Grosvenor Street (search for the surname here):

Thankyou very much for helping me. I was getting excited but now i think it is a red herring.

I'm trying to find an O'Neill family who lived at 72/3 McDonnell street (difficult to tell the number on the back of the photo) between possibly 1920-1953+. My father was given a photo from his aunt in 1953 with this address on.

My grandfather was John O'Neill being born around 1920 and he has a sister Claire O'Neill who was a few years younger. I believe they also had a brother called Joseph. I'm awaiting postage of a marriage certificate of my grandfather to confirm my great grandfathers name. Until then i'm working in the dark slightly. Oh well back to the drawing board  ;D

Thanks again!

I now have a marriage certificate and directory information :)

Facts:

Joseph O'Neill lived at 73 McDonnell street belfast from 1930 to 1974.
From 1930 to 1966 he was listed as a labourer. After this he was retired.

He had two children that I know of:

He had John O'Neill in 1923+/- 1 year. I have assumed this as he is listed as 18 years old when he married Alice Kelly in february 1941 in birmingham, England.

Searching through the 1911 census Joseph O'Neill is too popular to find a lead on. I think my best bet would be to find the birth certificate of John O'Neill.

I would be grateful if anyone would be able to suggest or help me in gathering more information regarding this family. I am hoping to visit groni in the near future as I am drawing a blank in accessing online information regarding the births/deaths of the O'Neill family.

The online civil registration index only goes up to 1921 for Northern Ireland counties.
