I am currently researching the Riach, (Reach) family who were resident in Fort William.
Gordon Riach (1833-1889) married Mary MacDonald (1836-1873)
Mary died at a relatively young age, and had the following children:
William b.1865
Allan b.1866
Mary b.1868
Gordon b. 1871
Margaret b. 1873
Gordon Riach was a Master Plasterer, and re-married after Mary MacDonald died.
His second wife was Sarah McNiven (1841-1921) She was from Appin and died in Oban.
They has a son Alexander b.1878
I would be interested to know if anyone knows anything about Gordon and Mary's children in particular. Any information on Alexander Riach would also be welcome.

Hi,
I have some notes on Gordon's sister, Janet & his brother, George who was also a Plasterer in Ft William, briefly:
Janet Riach born 1838 Ballachulish & Corran of Ardgour, parents recorded as William Reach and Nelly McLennan. (IGI)
George Riach born about 1841, parents were William Riach and Helen McLellan and he married Ann McNiven, (born ca 1844) in 1865. Marriage Registered at Ballachulish & Corran of Ardgour. Her parents were Alexander McNiven (born ca1818 Innismore, Morven, Argyll, died 1890 West Larach) and Mary Livingston, born ca1822 B&CofA).
I have quite a bit more on George's family and a few certificates, send me a PM with your e-mail address if you would like them.
Regards,
brigau

Hello.
I’m new to Rootschat.
I too am related to the MacNivens. Two of my great granny’s sisters married two Riach brothers, George and Gordon and I am happy to share as much information I have gathered on the MacNiven side. I have gone back as far as about 1734.
Please get in touch.
