Hi,

Scotlands People have a marriage in 1879 Dunfermline, Fife between a Robert Ditchburn & Janet Thompson

There is also a birth for a Jessie Watson Ditchburn 1881, Greenock East.

It would be worthwhile buying some credits to check out both records

Sharon

Kerry, the info that Sharon mentions, the marriage and the birth of the child is only available to view for the detail on the pay to view site Scotlands People www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk You can view and download the actual register entry.

Costs are reasonable  :) The marriage cert will include full details on bride and groom's parents to let you work back to the next generation.

Monica  :)

Kerry,
             There is a census for 1881 with the Ditchburns on it.

Census 1881: 29 Belville Street, Greenock, Renfrewshire.
Robert Ditchburn aged 25 b 1856 Dunfermline Engine Fitter.
Janet T Ditchburn         26 b 1855 Dunfermline
Jessie W Ditchburn   1 month 1881 b Greenock
Mary Ditchburn (cousin) aged 11 b 1870 Dunfermline

~~~~~~~~-------
I noticed that a Robert Ditchburn died overseas and wondered if it was the same person.     The probate record on Ancestry reads: "Robert Ditchburn of Bombay India died 12 Jun 1903.    Probate London 17 July to Janet Ditchburn widow Effects £300."      I just don't know for certain if this is your Robert Ditchburn.       Would you happen to know if he ever went to India?       Perhaps to work there?
    ... I went to Scotlands People and for two credits, I found out the bare details of a marriage in Dunfermline.
      Robert Ditchburn married Janet Thomson at Dunfermline 1879.   (Reg no: 424/00 0136).       There is no proof this is your two ancestors.
It might be them but then it might not be.        It looks promising though.
     ....If you wanted to find out more about the marriage, you would have to pay five credits on Scotlands People.
              Hope this helps a little.
                                                                Brian
