Hi,
I don't think I've posted this photo of one of my relatives before.
Could anyone put a date to it and also give it a bit of a clean up please?
The photo is printed on a postcard. That's one heck of a hat she's wearing :o
Thanks, Ian

bit of a clean up for her

Another clean up, :)

I think about 1905. There is a lady with a similar outfit on when I googled Ladies Fashions.

Hi,
Thank you all for the clean ups and Carol for a stab at the date. I still can't figure which member of the family it could be.
Cheers, Ian :)

Hi Ian
What a fabulous photo.

Hiya Caz! I can only second Caz' remark about a fabulous photo...what a hat!
It's called a mushroom hat and was a (perhaps thankfully) short-lived fashion from about 1908-1910 or so...I'd put this a little later than Carol's estimate, based on the hat width and the loose pompadour hairstyle. Around 1910-1912ish I think.
Keep in mind it may not be a family member at all...people exchanged photos with friends as well as relatives.
Cheers,
China

Hiya China
I'm probably going to get into trouble for this but I couldn't resist.
She had the hat made especially to go with this outfit! :P

Caroline! AWESOME!!!!
Yeah, yer in trouble now, girl ;D

Ditto China...but it is worth it 8)

Hi Caroline,
Thanks very much for those restorations, the coloured one is fantastic :) :) I should have asked for a bit of colour to keep you out of trouble ;D
Thanks also to you China for the date information. I'm pretty sure the lady is a family member as all the other photo's in the collection are members of the family. How old would you say this lady was?
Thanks, Ian
-
Well I'm just glad I didn't reserve the seat behind her at the theatre - or in church - or anywhere for that matter!!
Great restores everyone!

Thanks China and Carol! :-*
Glad you like the colouring Ian and yes it did keep me out of trouble, but I thoroughly enjoyed myself! :)

Hi Ian,
How did I miss this one? - probably because I've been gardening all weekend. Am I too late to have a go?
What a wonderful photo and splendid restores. That's a fine colour, Caroline and what an amazing hat!!
Maggie :)

Hi Maggie,
You're never too late to have a go, please feel free to do so :)
Pleased your not in trouble Caroline as you've done some great ones in the past for me :) I'll remember in future to add to my request 'a touch of colour if anyone feels like it' 8)
Cheers, Ian

Here we go.

One more.
Maggie :)

Hard to say how old she is, Ian, about 30-35 or so? Them spectacles kind of throw you off :P
Cheers,
China

a color version from me..I have a higer resolution copy for print if you want one let me know.., tommy

Hi Maggie,
Thanks very much for your two restorations, much appreciated.
I agree China it's rather hard to put an age to the lady. Could one of you wizard restorers remove the glasses please to see if this gives a better idea of age?
Thanks very much also to you tommy for the different colour version.
Cheers, Ian :) :)
-
A couple of late attempts from me, Ian.
I didn't have the heart to remove her glasses ! :( :(
Kind regards,
Pels.
-
Lovely!
Good to see you back Pels! :D

Hi Pels,
Thank you very much for those two lovely restorations.
Cheers Ian :)
-
Late entry here - fab picture, lovely restores ;D, and I don't think she's all that old - quite an unlined face......mid twenties at most, and could be early twenties in my view.

Thanks IgorStrav for your observations re age.
