Hi Pollocm
From your first messages on Rootschat:
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,401775.0.html
Hi my name is mary pollock, daughter of edward pollock, granddaughter of elizabeth kirkwood pollock born in belfast in 1900, who had a number of sisters one of which is named sadie kirkwood. She immigrated to canada and married my grandfather adam cane pollock from kilmarnock, scotland. Not sure this is helpful but this is the only information i have. My gradmother passed away in 1985. Her sister sadie passed away i think in 2006 she is survived by three children verna, beverly and a son.
I'm not sure if you would therefore have the following, which looks like your Adam's family?
INDIVIDUAL PASSENGER DECLARATIONS for the 5 members of this family:

Born Newmilne Scotland

FULL PASSENGER LIST: The following family was DETAINED on arrival

William POLLOCK 44, Carter
Mrs Isabella POLLOCK 44. Housewife
Adam POLLOCK 17, Carter,
Robert POLLOCK 14, School,

Destination Winnipeg
There is more than this to be found - eg: the above Adam (married by then), his widowed mother and a young boy Robert POLLOCK age 3, travelled to the UK and back, arriving 1935 in Canada.
Can you confirm you are looking for Adam's birth family (parents and backwards) or are you looking for living relatives of the family (descendants of his birth family etc)?
Cheers

I think Adam's middle name was not 'Cane' but Mechan (Meechan) (Meekin) - and I don't think he was registered at birth with a middle name (Scotlands People Search), nor seemed to use one up to the time he came to Canada? It was quite common for UK immigrants to the US & Canada to sprout middle names or initials (often mother's maiden name) that they never had before!
His sister Roseanne Mechan POLLOCK age 18 married Robert McMILLAN in Ayrshire in 1918 (Scotlands People Marriage Cert), parents: William POLLOCK Carter & Isabella POLLOCK ms MECHAN
Their parents married in Ayrshire in 1897 (Scotlands People Search): William POLLOCK & Isa* MEE*AN
And someone else is looking at the wider family - gt-grandaughter of Isabella's brother who also immigrated to Canada:

Can't find William & Isabella on the 1901 Scotland Census, possibly at least with a young daughter, Rose(anne)

Thank you so much for the information i found my grandfathers birth certificate that i got from the registrars office in kilmarnock. The name on it is Adam Kane Pollock. Born july 12, 1903. Iam actually looking back to see how far my family tree name Pollock goes back in Scotland and also if we have any living relatives.
You are very kind to provide this information.
I knew of a ross family in montreal that somehow we were related to but we did not have a close family relationship.

Pollock, a very old Scots name, half a page in Black's Surnames. A Peter son of Fulbert had a grant of Upper Pollock, Renfrewshire from the High Steward 1177 and took his name from these lands.
The name became Polk in the US, the eleventh president was James Knox Polk who was descended from a James Pollock who emigrated from Ayrshire.
Apparently it was once pronounced Pook.
Skoosh.

Hello Pollocm,
A possible sighting of William Pollock, who married Isabella Meehan, as a 5 year old living with his parents and siblings.
1881. census address 1 Greenside Street, Loudon, Ayrshire.
Pollock William, Carter, M. age 32 years, M. born Newmilns, Ayr
Pollock Janet, Wife, F. age 30 years, M. born Muirkirk, Ayr,
Pollock Mary, Daur, F. age 12 years, born Old Cumnock, Ayr,
Pollock Janet, Daur, F. age 9 years, born Newmilns, Ayr,
Pollock John, Son, M. age 7 years, born Newmilns, Ayr,
Pollock William, Son, M. age 5 years, born Newmilns, Ayr,
Pollock Agnes, Daur, F. age 3 years, born Newmilns, Ayr,
Pollock Andrew, Son, M. age 7 months, born Newmilns, Ayr.
Janet Pollock's, maiden name is Mccall, she married the above William Pollock, March 22nd 1869, Auchinleck, Ayr.
To prove whether this is the correct family you need to purchase the wedding certificate of William Pollock, and Isabella Meehan, date 1897 Ayr, this will provide the names of bride and grooms parents.
If this certificate verifies the above you then need to purchase the 1869 marriage certificate of William, and Janet Mccall, which will then take you back a further two generations.
Regards,
Jonn.
