I like this photo. There isn't too much damage but I wonder what she would look like with a bit of colour? Black and white restores welcome as well of course.
I would be delighted if anyone would like to have a go - perhaps she will be fun to do.
Many thanks in advance.
Maggie :)

Beautiful photo Maggie :o
Carol

It's lovely isn't it Carol?
Maggie :)
-
Definitely GRAND Aunt ;D
-
had a shot for you
Cheers
Maureen

Maureen - they are both lovely, thank-you so much for spending time on this. I particularly like the first one, the colours you have chosed in the bouquet are splendid - so subtle. I also like the 2nd one - so atmospheric. The lady certainly is siting in a magnificent studio setting.
Maggie :)

Here's one from me too.
-
Thank you, GS, for bringing some colour to my Great Aunt. It's lovely and she looks so much better. I really appreciate you spending time on her.
Maggie :)
-
She's certainly a handsome woman - am I allowed to say that I see some family resemblance? ;D
-
a version from me.., tommy
-
Wow - that's a most impressive bouquet, Tommy, and some beautiful colours. It's really interesting comparing all the different interpretations - I'm really enjoying seeing them all. Thank-you so much.

Interesting, GS. I can see where you are coming from, but actually she is related by marriage only. Perhaps my Grand-Uncle chose her because she looked a bit 'familiar'?

I built that bouquet piece by piece...lol I took flower arranging classes several times.., tommy
-
I can tell, tommy - your classes have paid off ;D

What a lovely photo Maggie and some great colour restores. Was it a wedding photo?
-
Yes it was, Jan. I've just realised that I don't have a date but it would have to be around 1899 I would imagine.
-
Thank goodness I've got the computer working again in time!
- Lovely photo Maggie - might have to have a play . . . . ::) ;)
-
I shall look forward to seeing it, Wiggy.
-
Do you have one with the husband, Maggie?
-
Unfortunately I don't have one of them together, which is strange as they were a very devoted couple for the whole of their lives together. I do have a head and shoulders one of her husband on his own that I'm sure was taken on their wedding day.
-
Can't colour - as you know- but she's so beautiful! and I'd hate her to be looking down her nose at me - ;) :D :D
-
not quite black and white!
just love the hat! ;D
-
One from me too...bare with me Maggie...new computer and software...Steep learning curve ::) ;D
Carol
-
Oh - what a lovely surprise this morning to find some more absolutely beautiful restores. Thanks so much, Wiggy and Carol - they are so gorgeous, sharp and clean. Personally I always love the b&w ones as I think they keep the spirit of the original, although this may also be because I find it such a challenge to colour them myself.
That apart, it is lovely to see what 'Auntie Maggie' may have looked like in all her coloured glory - every picture here is gorgeous.
Wiggy - I knew this lady at the end of her long life and she did indeed have quite a lengthy nose. She was a lovely kind lady but quite strict and rather prim. I inherited her rocking chair - not the most comfortable thing to sit in but I'm very happy to give it a home as it's quite old.

Carol
Getting your head around a new computer isn't easy is it Carol? However I can tell from this that you are well on the way - good to see you back 'on the job'.
Maggie :)

hi Maggie,
Isn't she a beauty! And she looks so tiny! You must be so thrilled with all these different interpretations of your photo! They are all fab, aren't they!
Love the hat :D
Judy
-
Hi Judy,
Aren't the colours and restores just wonderful? It really is interesting to see the different ways the pic is interpretted.
Auntie Maggie WAS tiny - I remember her as a rather bird-like elderly lady with snow-white hair. I have lots of pictures of her taken towards the end of her life - perhaps it would be interesting to post one here as a sort of 'Before and After' thing.
Shall I? Or perhaps that would be going off topic. :-\
Maggie :)
-
Oh, I am sure we would all like to see one! (I know I would!)) :D
-
Here she is as I remember her. She died in 1955 aged 86. I suspect this undated pic was taken around 1950.
Maggie :)
-
Thanks for posting it, Maggie. She looks a lovely old lady.
What amazes me is how much clothing changed in the fifty years between the photos.
In the first photo she looks so sophisticated and elegant - but she looks much more comfortable in the second photo!
-
what color eyes? and are her feet under the carpet?..lol
-
oh this is the woman in the earlier photo wow ok eyes blue
-
my color version.., I removed the part of the guy standing nearby and enlarged and rebuilt the left portion of photo to balance it for you.., tommy
-
That is splendid, Tommy, and just how she was with blue eyes. Thank you so much. Didn't expect this - just cropped her out of a bigger pic to show Judy but you have captured her wonderfully well. The 'guy' standing nearby is actually her husband whom I unceremonially cropped out of this version ;D
Never noticed where her feet were - they are indeed under a bit of carpet :o. The original photo is actually quite small and a perfectly balanced picture that the couple appear to have used as a Christmas Card that year.
Maggie ;)
-
Fabulous photo .What talent people had to create the hat and the bouquet . I just love old photos

Hi Maggie
I had some fun with your beautiful photo.
