Would love to trace parents of John CLANCY b June 1886 Newcastle.
1891 census shows only one CLANCY in Newcastle, and he is a sailor on board vessel!
1901 census no help either.
John married Jane Bertram FAIRMAN (FAIRMANN) Q2 1909 still in Newcastle and I have his history from there-on.
Presumably of Irish ancestors, but that is a guess at the moment.
Many thanks if someone can help.

It looks as if you'll have to bite the bullet and cough-up for his birth certificate as a first step.

The Marriage Cert of John/Jane would confirm his Fathers name/Occp
James/Margarets Marriage Cert would do the same.
In Family Research we have to spend money unfortunately.

Hi all,
Many thanks for the helpful and prompt replies. Particularly Adamb for the 1901 record and Trish for the many replies.
It certainly looks like James and Margaret could be the ones (I do normally confirm findings by purchasing certificates!).
My difficulty arose because, using the well known FindMyPast, the family identified by Adamb cannot be found, and I was looking for continuity through the census records. Without the 1901 record the trail falls apart.
Onward and backward thanks to you all
Cheers, Bobel
