Hi - I want to order a birth certificate for an ancestor, but there are several people with the same name at the same time, so I'm not sure which is the right one. Here's what I know - in all censuses (except 1841 which doesn't really specify) his birthplace is listed as Tredegar. In 1841 and 1851 he lived in Bedwellty. He was born in either 1839 or 1840 (his age varies in the different censuses). His older sister was born in 1834 in Blaina.
The certificate options I have are for: Crickhowell, Newport, or Abergavenny. If he was born in Tredegar, or Bedwellty, which of those would be the one his birth would be registered in?
Thanks VERY much for any help! (BTW, his name is Joseph Davies.) Thank you!

Have a look on the GENUKI:Wales site - lots of family history info & resources listed there.

By the looks of it the one you want is Abergavenny
http://ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/abergavenny.html
If when you are on FreeBMD you click on the registration district name it takes you to a new page you then click on the link there and it shows you the areas in that registration district.
