Can anyone make out the name of the witness  below the name of Mary Clayton?

I agree with James but could the surname be Hodgshon - a variant of Hodgson?

Having done that - and thank you because I didn't know about Ctrl+ until you said it - I am even more convinced that it is Hodgshon/Hodgson.

Ctrl+     brilliant little move picked up from RC......wonderful for looking at details of old properties too.

Lots to think about - I think I might go back to the Archive, and ask if I can look at the original, as the film one is SO poor.
