Title: Napoleonic War - Elias TOOGOOD
Post by: snoons on Monday 17 September 12 23:22 BST (UK)
Family story is that Elias TOOGOOD served in the Napoleonic War.  Son, Thomas, claimed to be born in Sicily!  The only references I have found regarding Elias' service in war are on Nat Archives, stating 27th Dragoons (Light) & 20th Dragoons (Light), discharged aged 42.  Kinmainham.
Does anyone know if the 27th or 20th Dragoons (Light) were in Sicily?
Any help appreciated.

Thomas was born in Sicily in 1809, married Edith Purchase and they had 11 children. He passed away on 1859 in Port Fairy, Victoria, Australia

If you click on Elias Toogood, it says he was born in Sicily, Wiltshire!  ???

:)Thanks so much, big help those links.
I don't know about son Thomas dying in Port Fairy, about a dozen others with trees on Anc say he died in Kew...
Also the comment about him being born in Sicily, Wiltshire, that puzzled me a bit too.  If his father was an officer, his wife quite possibly could have been in Sicily....
Does any know if Army births were recorded for Napoleonic War / Sicily etc. ;D
