Looking for help in finding which cemeteries the numbers 2301 and 22876 cover.
Thanks.

Hi Hinton
We'd love to help you but you'll need to tell us where the numbers come from. Cemeteries in New Zealand have names but they are not numbered.

Hello,
The BDM`s on line show the year of the event ie death and beside that is a number that I understand is the cemetery or area where the cemetery is.

Hi Hinton,
The number following the year e.g 1890/1234 is the registration number for that particular death,it has nothing to do with the cemetery.
If you want to post the deaths you are referring to,some kind chatter with a burial locator may be able to tell you where they are buried,

The BDM`s on line show the year of the event ie death
Hi...
Just to be precise, the BDM`s on line show the year of registration of the event, not the year of the event.
An event may have been registered many years after the event, even though it's not meant to have been.
The simplest way to get the date of the event is to narrow the dates down using the "Search To" and "Search From" boxes on the BDM NZ website (not that that always works :-)

...beside that is a number that I understand is the cemetery or area where the cemetery is.
On a BDM NZ Microfiche the format is year/folio e.g 1890/1234.
In this instance the 1234 refers to the registration district. Maybe this is what you meant.

Hello,
Thanks for all yr replies. I did the search to etc, thats where I got the year plus the second figures.
Beg, your assumption is correct. The numbers I quoted will be the registration district. That is what I`m hoping to get info on. What district or area does 2301 and 22876 cover.

Are those numbers from the online BDM's or the birth fiche at a library?
If online they don't refer to an area it is just a registration number
,as I said in #3,if you put the names on here someone with a burial locator will be able to tell you where the burial took place
Cheers Janette

Hi Hinton...
Just repeating what Janette said...
The BDM NZ website numbers you are giving us are unrelated to the BDM NZ microfiche numbers.
Only the microfiche number will give you the registration district. The website number means nothing outside of the website.
Several rootschatters have a CD called the Burial Locator CD. This lists about three million NZ burials records. If you want to give us the names you're looking for someone will have a look on the CD and, if the burials are recorded, will let you know where they took place.
If you want privacy you're welcome to PM me the names and I'll have a look.
