Hi Robboefc

You likely need to take it a stage at a time with John Lewis Miller to trace back to his family. This period of time is hard as nothing is really available online (due to privacy issues).

Have you checked his marriage to see what it said about parent(s)? Did he die in England or Scotland?

Is this the right death registration?

John Lewis Miller age 77 born 12 June 1912 Date of Registration: Oct 1989
Brighton Volume 18 Page 184

The date of birth should enable you to check Scotlands People for a birth and obtain a copy of his birth cert.  That will give you his parents names and mothers maiden name.  You will not be able to view a copy online

Good to find his marriage entry if you can. That will help you to try and confirm Glasgow family, at least through a confirmation of his father's name.

Blackhill? What registration disctrict was that I wonder then? At least 12 John Mill*r birth entries showing for 1912 (none will Lewis for a middle name unfortunately).

Hi imiller

Welcome to RootsChat  :)

Must be a little disconserting to find your father's details here in this way.

With the details you have confirmed, in particular your father's birth in London, I am wondering whether we are talking about two different John (Lewis) Millers?

Given how recent events are, it may be best to discuss this with Robboefc via the Personal Message service (PM). You need, as a new member, three posts here on the main forum for this PM service to be activated, so just add a couple of acknowledgements here for this to happen.

To send someone a PM, just click on small 'note/letter' button under someone's username on the l/h side of that person's post. It will take you straight there - works very much like all message services.

Monica  :)
