Title: WW2 Pioneer corps, Gillespie squad
Post by: bacday on Saturday 15 September 12 22:24 BST (UK)
I have a photograph of my father who I think was in the Royal army service corps, Pioneer corps, Gillespie Squad. He lived in Swansea, South Wales. I have a number which I think is his service number-1759332. I've tried typing this into ancestry records with no result. Does anyone know the best way of finding out what he did and where he served during the war? I know he was in France and Belgium, but that's all

These service records are not yet online or released to the general public. Use this link to see how to obtain them.

Thanks for your information. I've obtained my father's service records and I recently discovered that my father served with the Pioneer corps 174 in WW2 in France, Holland and Germany from Aug 1944 until Apr 1946. I would love to know the details of what his company was doing and where he served. Could you help please? I wondered whether the company would have had a log? His name was William Lewis Peake, and his service no. was 142869
Many thanks
