Title: Samuel Henry Pearce
Post by: Mrs_Pearce on Friday 14 September 12 12:37 BST (UK)
Hello all,

I am looking to find when & where Samuel Henry Pearce, wife, Ellen Pearce (nee Rendall/Rendell) & son Roland Henry immigrated to Australia from England. It would be around the year 1885 & I'm guessing it was to Sydney as they had a daughter born in 1887 in Sydney.

I have had no luck looking for them on the NSW State Archives website.

(If you have any further details on them it would also be appreciated :D)

Hi and welcome :)

Samuel Henry Pearce and Ellen Rendell seem to have married in Fulham in Dec qtr 1884 and had Roland Henry in Kensington in Dec qtr 1885, so as you say that leaves a narrow window of opportunity of a year or so for the emigration if there is a Sydney birth in 1887.

Hope someone can find the voyage for you. In the meantime let us know what further details you're seeking and we will see what we can do.

Hi. Welcome to Rootschat, Hope we can help. :D

Your Samuel and Ellen had 5 children between 1887 and 1894. They were living at inner adjoining Sydney Suburbs of PETERSHAM and LEICHHARDT.
Constance C. Ref #9025/1887
Lillian L. Ref#6399/1889
Samuel G. Ref#18640/1891. Died 1898 Ref# 2000/1898
William C. Ref#19206/1893
Edwin E. Ref#18627/1894.

If your Samuel H pearce was the son of Samuel and Catherine then he died early in 1896. Ref#13985/1896
There is also the possibility that Ellen did not survive long either if she was the daughter of George and Jane then she died in 1911. Ref #16089/1911

Constance married 1909 Ref # 5748/1909 TO ROBERT J  NORRIS
Lillian Married 1913 Ref # 5005/1913 TO WILLIAM B HUNT
William C Married 1929 Ref # 16273/1929 To ISOLINA CERETTI
Edwin E possibly never married NSW died 1977 Ref #4204/1977

Wondering if anyone has any further luck on this family??

My husband's line is through William C Pearce's line (Also went b Charles W) from his first marriage (1915).

Is there anywhere else other than the state archives that immigrants lists can be found?

Cheers

Ok have had a look at Samuel Henry's death certificate & it gives an approximate date of arrival in Australia as about March 1886.

His death certifcate - 25 Dec 1896 states his "how long in Australasian Colonies or States" as 10 3/4 years in NSWales.

Does this help???

Hi

I found Henry Pearce 29 ; wife Ellen 29; with Catherine 5, on the Parthia in 1886.

No Roland noted however the three names are very close to those you are looking for.

Note
my experience is that there are some inaccuracies with the trancriptions. My family is listed minus one child and the copies I recieved from NSW archives did not mention this son. However on finally looking at the records myself this son was there just missed in the transcription!!!! and the page he is on was not one of those sent to me.

regards

Robyn

Hi regross,

I did come across that as well, however on Samuel's death certificate (1896), his daughter Catherine Constance (or Constance Catherine) was the age 9.

Unfortunately we have to disregard this listing as little "Catherine" was not born, let alone 5 at the time.

:( Thank you for the effort though, I really hope they weren't missed. :(
