Title: RISCUT MILL
Post by: mootoak on Friday 14 September 12 10:27 BST (UK)
Does anyone know of a " Eros? Riscut (Riscub?) Mill in the parish of St Martins Denbigh" which was flourishing in 1828 under Edward Hughes? I am trying to locate such a place named in a Settlement Examination.

Any help appreciated

There was either a man named Minshall or a man named Baynes, living at Escob Mill St Martins .

You might be able to locate it in the census.

The place can be located on www.old-maps.co.uk using the postcode supplied in the search box. There is a choice of equivalent historic maps in the drop down list on the rigtht.

In 1841 it is known as Erw Escob(or Erew Esgob) Mill and occupied by Sarah Hughes(farmer and miller) and family

1841 census ref  HO 107  916  3/17  3

Perhaps she is Edward's widow. His will of 1830 is available at the National Library of Wales website
