Shackfield Williams was born in Oswestry and this is where I need some help. Shackfield married Mary Humphries on the 6th Feb 1773 in Oswestry so I estimate his birth to be approximately around 1750.
The hope is once the baptism has been found and his parents have been identified there might be a link to Wales, as the family believe they originate from Wales.
I would appreciate it if someone could kindly check the parish records for Oswestry in an attempt to locate the baptism.
Many thanks.

With such an unusual christian names - this entry may have some connection to him - his brothers child perhaps?

Thanks Carole, Shackfield would appear to be a family name passed down through the generations. Yes there is a family link to the Shackfield that you found, this is the grandson of the Shackfield that I am interested in. There are 3 generations of Shackfield's so far, I would not be surprised if this name goes further back.

Hi Shirl, thanks for this link. I have looked at the records for Oswestry and could not find Shackfield, according to his marriage/banns record he was married in St. Oswald's Oswestry in 1773. The link that you kindly sent me relates to St. Asaph. I assume that St. Oswald's will have their own records, are these available online?

Hi Steve
familysearch.org as you probably already know show baptisms in Oswestry for Shackfield & Mary's children but other than that I can't see any online records for St Oswalds. Good luck with your research
