Hi thanks for the reply his name was George Gaudie Stephenson.
I did find this, but still I'm none of the wiser!
Quote from the SUPPLEMENT TO THE LONDON GAZETTE, 29 JANUARY, 1917
To be temp. Hon. Lt. and Qr.-Mr.: —
George Hadley. 30th Jan. 1917
Yorkshire West Riding Volunteer Regt.'
15th Bn.—To be temp. Capts. 30th Jan.
1917: —Col. John Percy Gethin (late The Manch.Regt.).
George Gaudie Stephenson.
I was wondering if these units were raised for home defence and training.

Looking for information on John Bentley. Before joining the 2 Yorkshire Regiment (Green Howard) in 1882 he states he was previously a member of the 4th Battalion West Riding
Regiment. As he was just 19 when the joined the 2 Yorkshire Regiment he must have been
very young to be a member of the 4th Battalion.
I have never been able to find his parents at all. On his Army Records he says he has a sister Ellen Bentley. So I have all the information forward from 1882. He says he was born in Bradford circa 1863. Desperate for any help.
Thank you Margaret Greenwood, Diamond Creek, Melbourne

Thank you very much for that information. Its very helpful. I will try to find
out when John Bentley joined and if it has information on his father, as he may
have been underage.
Wish me luck and again many thanks.
