Does anyone have any information on the above-I know that he was born in Paisley Scotland and that he was a master painter and that some of his work records are in PRONI. There is I think some connection with my family as a great uncle of mine appears to have been involved in the purchase of the house in Bishop Street. In the 1901 census Henry resides there with his wife Flora and nephew William Wright born in the city and painter by trade. Henry and Flora do not seem to have any children with them and if William is their nephew then his mother is either a sister of Henry or Flora(I presume)
I dont see them in the 1911 census and have no other information- I see that there are two other McIndoe families in 1911 census living in Co Down and Antrim-both heads of these families were born in Scotland so just wondering wether they may be children of Henry and Flora
Thanks

Hi,
It seems that your Henry died on 15 Jan 1906. Probate of his will was granted to Thomas McLaughlin M.D. and John Brown, Merchant. His effects came to just ofer £529. This detail is in the PRONI Wills Calendars. See http://www.proni.gov.uk/

Hi Wow,
There is a "Henry McEndoo" recorded in Griffith's Valuation of Property in Ireland. He was renting a house and yard on Albert Street, in Derry city, from Alexander McIlwee, which had an annual rateable value of £7. This valuation was carried out just prior to the year 1858 in county Londonderry
Henry "McIndoo" is recorded in the Derry Almanac and Directory for 1870 as living at Bishop Street (without), in Derry city
In the Derry Almanac and Directory for 1903 and 1905 he is recorded as "Henry McIndoe", who was living at 48 Bishop Street, Derry city

Brendan
