Hello List

Trying to find the parents of Edward Maxwell COPELAND b abt 1826 Ireland.  Married to Mary OSBOURNE b 1835  d 1877 Glasgow.
In 1861 census he is listed as a Seaman born in Ireland.

Very grateful for any help.

An Edward Maxwell Copland died in Scotland in 1868.  His parents should be listed on the death certificate, which is viewable online at ScotlandsPeople.

Having had another look, this Edward appears to have died in infancy.

Thank you for your reply.

I can assure you that this Edward Maxwell COPELAND was alive in the 1871 census aged 45 with wife Mary and three children.  They were living at 32 Cumberland Lane, Glasgow Govan, Lanarkshire.

How do I get onto ScotlandsPeople to view the details?  I live in Herefordshire, England.

It's ScotlandsPeople.gov.uk

It's a pay per view site, but one of the cheaper ones.  £7 gets you 30 credits.  Searching the index is free, looking at an index entry is one credit, and viewing a certificate, etc, is five credits.

hello suemike

i have extensive information on the copelands as edward maxwell copeland is my 3 x great grandfather.

the edward maxwell copeland who died in 1868 is an infant (edward and marys son)

i do not have any parents for edward maxwell copeland, as he was born in ireland and the records in ireland are notoriously difficult to source as most of them were destroyed in fires..... so as yet, have been unable to find any records for his parent.

please let me know if there is any other information that you need.
