Title: William Cottam Born in abt 1814 in Newark

Hi,
I am looking for the birth parents of my 2nd Great Grandfather William Cottam (B. Abt 1814, according to Census record) in Newark,Nottinghamshire.
 
The only information I have about him is off the census records. His birth listed abt 1814, he married Mary Hattersley in 1843 in sheffield. He was a Male Servant in 1841 and after that the census records show him as being a Coachman.

 I'm not sure when he left Newark on Trent, but in 1841 it shows him as being in Ecclesall Bierlow, Sheffield. William and Mary had 2 children, my Great Grandfather William Cottam(born in 1844) and my Great Aunt Mary Cottam (born in 1845).

I think they were Anglican, as my Great Grandfather William(B.1844) was a Headmaster at Inkberrow School and also the church organist at St.Peter's church Leck Lancashire.

My Grandfather William Edward Cottam (B.1869) moved to Canada in about 1892 and before he died in 1958, no one asked him about the families in England.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have searched countless leads and have hit a brick wall finding out anymore about him. I have also tried findmypast, but no records seem to match him and I can't find any parish records available online for Newark.

John Cottam married  Elizabeth Williamson 22.8. 1774 at Newark, St Marys.

John Cottam buried 10.11.1821 aged 66
Elizabeth Cottam buried 10.3. 1813 aged 60 wife of John
both at Newark

It looks like the Cottam's were from Lincolnshire.

John Cottam of Beckingham, Lincolnshire & Elizabeth Williamson 22 Aug 1774

The earliest baptism at Newark is William in 1775 and the earliest marriage is John & Elizabeth.

There is a Settlement Certificate dated 1790 from Beckingham to Newark
