Hello, just had a breakthrough on one of my brickwalls and have got back another generation. Wondering if someone would be kind enough to do a look up for me if they have access to the registers for Melling - the period I need is not on the IGI.
Am looking for the following:
Marriage of William King to Ann (surname unknown). Known children baptised in 1772 & 1774 (Henry & John) so presumably prior to that date.
Any King children baptised c1793 - 1806 with the father Henry King and the mother Ann (formerly Skirrow). Henry and Ann married in 1793 and I have one certain child James in 1804 and one potential William born abt 1806 (from 1841 cenus).
This last one is a big look up I know, so if too much just confirmation of William would be great. Appreciate any help at all, really pleased to get back another generation!

Thank you for doing so much on this Radcliffe! I do have the copy of the parish entry and the licence for Henry & Ann's marriage and he is listed as a husbandman, sorry I should have thought about putting up all I had. I also have the parish record copy for James' birth and again Henry is a husbandman.
You have found a lot more for me to look at and figure out! Henry as far as I know stayed in the parish and was an Agricultural Labourer. I have him on the 1841 as a pauper (Ag Lab) and he dies in Caton Workhouse. His grandson and great grandsons do become licencees though so it is a possibility?
Thank you so much again!

Thank you once again. I suspect Roberandale is Roeburndale nearby. Off to chase down all my new leads!

Just as an aside to this thread. A quick salute to my old friend Radcliff who is still helping people with the details in the Melling area. In one fell swoop he removed a complete brick wall for me in the search for my other half's maternal family in Wennington!
Keep up the good work!
Bill

I am a new member. I am also researching the King family in Caton and Melling.
My 4 x great grandfather William King married Sarah Fox in Caton in 1788. Witness Anthony King.
John King married Alice Leeming at Caton in 1783. Witness James King.
James King married Grace Thompson at Caton in 1790. Witness Anthony King.
Anthony King married Isabella Rathmell in Lancaster in 1793. Witness John King.
I have been researching William King's family for years and thought that my William was born in Burton in Lonsdale, but I have recently found out that this William married someone else.
All the above Kings had a daughter named Ann or Nancy and a son William, so I wondered if this was the name of their parents.
I have just found a baptism for a William King in 1766 to a William and Ann King at Whittington.
I have also found a marriage for a William King and Ann Roach in 1763 at Beetham. I wonder if these are the parents of Anthony, William, John and James and perhaps Henry of Melling.
Beetham, Whittington, Melling, Hornby and Caton are in the same area. I visited them yesterday.
