Hi all,
been trying for years to find out the marriage of John Lee born 1811/1812 Nottingham and Hannah Comery born 1816 Carlton.
They went on to have children Mary Ann, George, Sarah, Alice, Samuel, Thomas, Alfred, James and Catherine.
Can anyone help me?
Many thanks

Hi Mandy.... :)
I can only see this marriage.... but too early...
Marriage at Gedling All Hallows - 28th July 1824
JOHN LEE & HANNAH CONERY
-
I can see the marriage on Familysearch = https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NKM8-TLM
At Gedling - 28th July 1834
It isn't listed on the Nottinghamshire FHS index - you could do with someone checking Gedling P/R's to see if it has been missed somehow.
It will be about 3 weeks or so before I can get to the archives so will look then if you like, if no one else offers in the meantime.

Hi there,
thank-you so much for finding this for me and the offer of going to the archives for me. I am needing a trip myself soon so I'll check it out then, thank-you again :)
best wishes

Hi Mandy,
You are welcome! if you can confirm the marriage was at Gedling would you mind letting us know please.... which would just go to show it pays to check the original p/r's.... which willl make me wonder why it's not on the records transcribed by NHFS... :-\

Hi again :)
I'm having loads of trouble finding stuff on the Familysearch.org site these days, the new format is just not working for me and records that I could find seem now to have totally disappeared, it's so frustrating! I never found the John and Hannah marriage, either before or after the change! I'm not very technically minded :-\ Will let you know when I get the marriage confirmed :)
Many thanks

Hi Dizzifish
It is on the Notts FHS CD 28.7.1824
Were you looking at 1834 as that is the date you put on your second post.

Hi Carol..... :)
Just to clarify.... I don't think it clicked with me straight away that the month and day were the same.... ::)
But when I looked at the Notts FHS index and the 1824 marriage showed and given that the brides surname was listed as Conery, I presumed it couldn't be the correct marriage because if Hannah was born abt 1816 it was too early for them.
I later looked for them on the IGI marriages = FamilySearch.org - England Marriages, 1538–1973 FamilySearch.org - England Marriages, 1538–1973 http://www.rootschat.com/links/0qjp/ which shows the date of 1834 and the right spelling of the surname.
It seems to me that there has been a typo on the Notts FHS index regarding the date?
I'm having loads of trouble finding stuff on the Familysearch.org site
If you haven't tried this site give it a go..... http://dustydocs.com.au/county/29/nottinghamshire.html?country_id=1
You can change the counties etc and then choose whichever town/parish you are after, it's really useful in helping with what parishes are available and dates.
I have found the site is slow for me if I use internet explorer, but it's fine if I use Firefox.....
Kind regards
Sheila.
