Title: Chickers Lane, Bosham/Westbourne
Post by: jean.rob on Wednesday 29 August 12 18:22 BST (UK)
Is anyone able to confirm the existence of Chickers Lane, either in Bosham or Westbourne in 1846.
I have a copy birth certificate for an ancestor stating this address in 2 places, but I cannot locate it on any map.  The registration district is Westbourne but I believe the birth to have been in Bosham.
I have also looked under Chicken and Chickens in case this is a misinterpretation, but the writing on the certificate is very clear as "Chickers".

Hi Sean

That is a possibility - knowing what spelling was like years ago!  You would have thought a Registrar would know how to spell, but I guess even they could be excused!

It's probably as close as I can get.

Many thanks.

Hi, We live at Orchard Cottage, Chequer Lane, Bosham. We have an original auctioneers poster relating to our house on April 28th 1853, which calls chequer lane, Chicker's Lane. Hope this helps!!
