Hello, I am new to this but have started a family tree and have a free 2 week trial to findmypast but now I find myself stuck and would like some advise please.
I have definately got the right Henry Chandler in the 1901 & 1911 cencus, then living in Carlisle, Cumbria, his place of birth is stated as Lambeth in 1868 and his occupation is Railway Carriage Examiner.
I have looked at the births in London & Middlesex and checked them against cencus where he would be 3, 10 and 17yrs old but none of them appear to be him, there is a possible in the 1871 cencus that lists a Henry Chandler born in London listed as a boarder "in the field" Appleford, Berkshire with a Fanny Dixey aged 56, I checked Fanny in the 1881 c and he is not with her then.
Any advice on how to continue would be appreciated.
Many Thanks
Jennifer

Hi Valda,
Thank You so much for your help.
Why do you think can I not find the 1881 cencus information on findmypast when I search for Thomas Chandler but I can find it if I put the address in, should I be searching more generally i.e. just by Chandler.
Just noticed it is Chander no L so I assume I should include variants in the search when I get stuck.

Hi
I never put the full word in when I search on anything due to mistranscriptions and the census enumerator and householders original spellings. I always use an asterisk instead. It is also quicker to type.
So Tho* Cha* or Tho* Chand* The asterisk equals any number of letters in any order and is in standard use for many electronic indexes.

Hello, I came across your post while looking at my family tree. I believe that Henry Chandler born 1868 Lambeth is my great grandfather, his son James being my grandfather. I have been unable to find any record of the death of Henry and James and wondered if you had been able to locate them in the death records.
