Title: Ancestor goes missing for ~20 years
Post by: J Wall on Sunday 26 August 12 21:38 BST (UK)
Hi All,
I am trying to find out documents regarding what happened to John WALL (b. ABT 1835 in Mangotsfield, Gloucestershire, England) from 1851 to 1871.  My 1851 entry shows John working for John MABYN in Bristol, England as an apprentice. While my 1871 entry shows John living in Ontario (most likely Chatham, Kent) with his wife Eliza Maria WINTER with their children. I have not been able to find any information regarding his immigration and marriage. Can someone please help me?
Thank you,
John

You will find the birth of some of the children in https://familysearch.org/

Went to Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid

ocfa.islandnet.com/ found a death for John Wall buried at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Kent,Chatham.

Went onto another site and his stone is W400.

I think he died before 1910 as Eliza is on the 1910 US Census along with some of the children and it indicates she is a widow. This info on A******ry.

Lilybell,
Thank you! That seems like a likely match for my ancestor.

Hi Valeriec,
Thank you for your reply, but I am mainly looking for records that date between 1851 and 1871. Outside of that, I have information regarding his birth and now marriage and death. Additionally, I have found him listed in the 1841 and 1851 England Censuses along with the 1881 and 1891 Canada Censuses.

There is something about a "but" that seems to negate all previous thanks..... if you  follow the 1901 census link given you by valerie the image might have an approximate date of entry to Canada....
also note that valerie gave you a whole list of places to search within that link, such as passenger lists to Canada

Sorry, what I meant by thank was to thank her for posting the information. However, I had some of the information. I have been looking over information in the links.

I have not been able to find any information regarding his immigration and marriage. Can someone please help me?
Thank you,

I missed that in the archives I created in my email with links to the the forum postings. It has been awhile since I was last able to work on my family genealogy due to graduate school and moving several times. Last time I was on here I did not have access to a pay-for-use ancestry website. Recently, I was able to get a membership and start organizing all of my files. I am, however, certain that I do not have any of the e/immigration information for the John WALLs in my family.

When you've been away a while and want to work on previously posted info ...Use the search above ( that's what Sandra had to do ) keyword in the surname you seek and your username, then read through to see if you've already asked that question...and post on the existing thread...
