Title: Bodeiliog
Post by: Hefin_Jones on Friday 24 August 12 19:15 BST (UK)
Does anyone know where Bodweiliog is in Caernarvonshire? I encountered it in an 1871 Census entry in Llanfaglan. The family of John Thomas age 35 born at Bodweiliog with wife Jane born in Llanfihangel and two children Evan born in Llanfihangel and Catherine born in Edern.
I first thought it a typo for Tydweiliog however it is repeated in the 1891 census in Llanbeblig where their grandson John Thomas Jones age 6 is said to been born at Bodwyliog. Is there a Bodwyliog? Any leads or opinion is appreciated
Thank you
Hefin

Hello Hefin

Welcome to Rootschat :)

Genuki is a good search engine for Welsh Parishes but i could`nt find Bodweiliog.

I looked on the origanal 1871 & read the same as you.

I would if it was the name of the Property John was born ?

My Greatgrandfathers brother moved from Pembrokeshire to Aberdare,
& on 1 census  he literally put birth place the name of the Farm where he was born. ;D

Just an idea
Hope this helps

Kind regards

The 1881 census gives John's place of birth as Tydweiliog.
