Title: Link From Alderson Family to Jimmy Corrigan or Batley Variety Club Fame
Post by: sbur on Wednesday 22 August 12 20:27 BST (UK)
I have an old family photo that says the daughter of my grandfather's cousin, George Alderson, married Jimmy (James Lord) Corrigan, who famously owned Batley Variety Club from 1967-c1980.  I remember my mother mentioning it too.  However, I have researched it and found it not to be true as his wives were Betty Wimpenny and Elaine P A Dorey.

Further research shows there was an Irene Alderson who married an Albert Corrigan in Q3 1938 (Leeds North 9b 689).  Could this Irene be the daughter of George Alderson of Leeds (born 1884 Grimsby?) Could Albert be Jimmy's uncle (born abt 1895 and younger brother to Jimmy's father Joseph (Joey) Corrigan (b.1890)?

George Alderson's marriage record would help but the only one I have found to Annie Brookes is wrong (Q3 1906 Leeds 9b 985) as his father was alive at that time and on the marriage record both fathers are 'Deceased'.  The only 1911 census does not fit either as it appears to be for that same couple.

I have the book of Jimmy's life 'Live Like a Lord' by Bob Preedy, which gave me most of the details above.  But nowhere have I found the link between Irene and Albert.

I need some miracles!  George's marriage record, his 1911 census record and Irene's birth record to give the correct mother's maiden name!  HELP!
