Do you have a marriage cert for your George ?

It should show his father's name and occupation which could help locate the family.. and also maybe confirm or rule out any possible matches..

see : Introduction to Irish Records (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,442233.0.html)
My Ancestor came from Ireland - where do I start? (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,498742.0.html)

I searched the civil records for any George Ryan in Ireland 1865-1875 and there are only 21 results (https://familysearch.org/search/records/index#count=20&query=%2Bgivenname%3Ageorge%7E%20%2Bsurname%3Aryan%7E%20%2Bbirth_year%3A1865-1875%7E&collection_id=1408347&birth_place0=8)
also the baptismal records (https://familysearch.org/search/records/index#count=20&query=%2Bgivenname%3Ageorge%7E%20%2Bsurname%3Aryan%7E%20%2Bbirth_year%3A1865-1875%7E&collection_id=1584963) for the same period

There are only four near matches
George born to:
Edward RYAN & Esther SWEENEY 12 May 1873 Kingstown No. 1/Rathdown Civil District
Charles RYAN & Margaret MALONE 09 Aug 1870 Kilcullen/Naas Civil District
parents unknown as no baptismal records given in Civil District Dublin South in 1866

Samuel George born to Joseph Francis RYAN & Anne BARNWELL 24 May 1868 Dublin North District

on Irish Genealogy there is a family with a James George RYAN (http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/efaee20145251) in 1871
There are several members of this family listed

Obtaining a marriage certificate for George will allow you to confirm his father's name against this information or if all are ruled out suggesting a wider search.

There's someone else looking at this family and some further details, though not George's Dad's name, here:
