Hello,
Can anyone tell me when this photograph may have been taken. I believe it to be my G x1 Grandparents but am not sure. My Great Grandfather died in 1921 aged 73yrs.
I'm afraid it is not the original photo but just a copy.
If anyone would like to tidy the photo up they may do what they think suitable. I love to see the different effects the restorers get. All so good.
Kind regards
Maggie

Hi Irene,
Thank you very much. What a big improvement. It's lovely

Taken around WW1.It could be a bit prior,1910 or may be into the war years.

She's had a hard life .... look at those thin hands.

Couple from me.

Thank you for the dating Jim. That would tie in nicely with the information we have.
And Lydart, Love your comment about her hands
I am sure she did have a hard life. She had 11 children, mostly boys. My Grandad was second to the last. My mother remembered her in later life being a tiny thin lady. She lived to be 84 years old so I suppose you could say hard work never hurt anyone.
Kind regards
Maggie ;D ;D ;D

Hi Terry,
Thank you so much for the 2 sepia photographs. I love them.
Kind regards

I've spent nearly all day hunting for this post as I made the mistake of not putting the poster's name on the title of the photo when I downloaded it! :-X ;D ;D
I was beginning to think that I had imagined it ::) Here is another version for you :)
o Ooops I just noticed i posted the wrong version ::) Here's the finished one I meant to post ;D

Her hands seem those of an old lady, yet her face remained much younger ! I think she had arthritis in those hands ...
Its a lovely photo, and thre restorers have done it proud.
-
Hi Squizza,
Oh bless you I don't like to think I have caused you problems but I am pleased you got sorted out.
Thank you very much for the restored picture and all the time you have spent on it
Hi Lydart,
You are correct that all the restorers have done my photograph proud. They really are very generous with their time and expertise. They always produce wonderful results. You maybe are correct about the arthritis
it seems to be a family problem.
Kind regards
Maggie ;D ;D ;D

It's strange because first impressions are that he is older than he probably is with the white / light hair yet on close inspection he too has a young face . Anyway I have added some colour just for fun. :)

It certainly wasn't your fault Maggie that I haven't got a filing system that works properly!
;D

I'd say they are both between 40 and 50 ??
-
Really ! :o
I would have thought early forties maximum! Here's what he might look like without that aging 'tache !
-
Nice coloring squizza but we are not allowed to color unless it has been requested as in the guidelines.

I thought Maggie saying she would "love to see the different effects" and specifically saying that one could do what they think suitable, means exactly that. If anyone is offended by what I have done I will apologise.

Hello to you all,
First of all let me thank you all for your wonderful restorations and comments.
Im sorry if there was any confusion over the way I worded my post. I like to give everyone a free rein to express what they think the picture needs....after all you are the experts and the results are always astounding. I did indeed say "I would love to see all the different effects" but in future I will be more specific and state colouring is acceptable as is black and white and sepia. If I have any ideas of my own.....ie hair colour and eyes I will state this. I hope I haven't caused any misunderstandings. :-\
Many thanks
Maggie

Hi Squizza,
Thank you so much for the beautiful coloured version of my photograph. It is breathtaking to see it coloured. A nice surprise first thing in the morning.
I noticed from your profile you are quite new to Rootschat....me too. We'll have to learn together.
Hope your filing gets better and my understanding of posting photographs correctly ::)
Thank you so much once again
Maggie ;D ;D ;D

It is a lovely photo and I think the colouring has just bought it to life. Nice job Squizza - what program do you use if I may ask.
Cheers

Thank you Carolyn,
Lovely! As your work always is. I have only been with Roots Chat a short time and am astounded by the beautiful work you all do so willingly.
I agree with you about the arthritis I also have the dreaded problem, as did my mother. I am due to have a second hip replacement shortly.
Once again many thanks.
Kind regards
Maggie

Beautiful work exhibited here. One can see why you are so pleased Maggie.
In answer to your question Mahalia, I use various versions of Photoshop and Elements that I have either bought or had as birthday presents since 1998!
I tend to mostly use the CS2 version and Elements 5 occasionally. I suspect it's what a lot of people use. Is that what you are using too?

I just thought I would comment that the restorations here have been fantastic-well done to all who put in much time and effort.
I have a question-was she wearing two wedding rings?
-
It looks as if she is wearing two rings mc8 . Would you wear two wedding rings - if you had been widowed once say? ???
-
Good morning,
Once again thank you all for your hard work you have put in to restoring my tatty old photograph. I must say the response has been fantastic.
With regard to your comments mc8 and squizza about her wearing 2 wedding rings, I had noticed the 2 rings but thought nothing of it. If this couple are my great grandparents as I was told they are, she only married once. I think maybe the ring on her middle finger was that of her late mother. Unfortunately we will never know for sure but it so nice people look at our photographs and are interested enough to comment.
Kind regards
Maggie ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
