Title: Dwyer or O'Dwyer family from Cork, Ireland
Post by: shay mary on Tuesday 21 August 12 07:44 BST (UK)
Hi Ireland
Am searching for Dwyer or O'Dwyer family from Ireland.
Have not got a lot to go on but John Dwyer born circa 1838 Cork, Ireland and wife Mary O'Donnell born circa 1841
married circa 1855.  Had three children born in Ireland - James born circa 1858, John born circa 1861, and Margaret bapt 4 June 1865 Mitchelstown, Cork, Ireland - found this info in Family Search on Margaret.
The family came to South Australia in 1866 on the ship Atalanta and John was listed as a carpenter.
John and Mary would have been of Roman Catholic religion.
Any details from Ireland of marriage, more accurate dates of children and any info on John and Mary regarding dates and father and mother on both sides and where they came from would be much appreciated, or who I could contact regarding any of the above.
Thank you

There's a Mary baptised in 1864 as well. Also, be aware of the surname variants 'Dwyre' and 'Dwire'.

James, Mary and Margaret were all born in the parish of Glanworth.

Hi Shane and Gaffy
Thank you both for your reply.  I have looked in what you sent previously Shane but the info I am seeking is pre-1964 - when the records you suggested started.  Also Roman Catholic records not in what you suggested.
John born circa 1838, wife Mary born circa 1841 and three children James born circa 1858, John born circa 1860 and found Margaret bapt 4 June 1865 Mitchelstown, Cork, Ireland.  So parents and two older children pre-1964.
Thanks for your efforts.
Shay

Civil records started in 1864, but the RootsIreland pay-website includes transcripts of many RC records for North East Co. Cork, including Mitchelstown parish, and the neighbouring parish of Glanworth where gaffy found some possible matches.

RootsIreland is a pay-website, so you have to check the details yourself. A payment is required to view any transcripts.
