Does anyone have any information on the above. Lizzie would be my gfather's sister who emigrated from Glasgow via Liverpool to Port Chalmers, Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand with their 6 x children. Would love to get in touch

Morning TW, and welcome. ;D
Judging from the date you provided some or all of the children you mention might still be living. Could I ask you to edit your post using the Modify button and remove their names, please.

Morning, yes sorry about the names although I suspect not was from 1908 etc
Thanks again

Thanks, it pays to be sure.
I have checked NZ BDM https://www.bdmonline.dia.govt.nz/ under both WEIR and GREEN for Elizabeth but can't see her (searched between 1924-1980). I didn't bother looking for 'John GREEN' - far too many results.
I also checked the search portal of Archives NZ, Archway http://archway.archives.govt.nz/ for Elizabeth Henderson WEIR and GREEN but couldn't see her.
Can you tell us anything more about John or Elizabeth, e.g. dates and places of birth, residence in ENG, occupations, birth years of the children, etc.
Any chance the family might have moved on to AUS?

I have found in the 1928 NZ Electoral Roll a Elizabeth Green and a John Green living at 448 Anderson's Bay Road, South Dunedin and John is listed as a Linesman
In 1935 an Edward is now listed as living at the 448 Anderson's Bay Road with Elizabeth and John, Edward is down as a linotype Printer
Is this the correct family?
-
This sounds right, yes. John was a Railway Surfaceman for Caledonian Railways before leaving Scotland and one of their children was called Edward who was only a school child on emigrating.
I thought I may have a match for both their deaths but haven't seen certs; Edward in 83 Norwood St, Dunedin in August 1977 amd Elizabeth (Lizzie) on 8th February 1970 in Rawhiti St but no hard proof. Lizzie's parents should be easy to confirm as they are Horatio Nelson Weir and Elizabeth Henderson. John's are Edward Green and Margaret McManus.
Thanks so much, all pointers very welcome indeed

Hi...
Asking for a Dunedin Archives look-up of the following probate might give clues as to whether or not the Elizabeth GREEN who died in 1970 is your Elizabeth.
GREEN Elizabeth - Dunedin - Married Woman - 1970

Here is an example of a Dunedin Archives lookup

This is amazing stuff and all looks correct - Marion would have been Minnie. I'm not able to see the actual records perhaps because I'm in the UK, couild you transcribe? Sorry to ask
TW
-
Think I can see these now, so would be a case of ordering the records to get a next of kin would that be the best plan do you think?
Thanks so much!
TW
-
Hope it's ok to post but remaining children would have been Elizabeth Green b1912 and Susan Green b1920

Hi TW70,
Maybe the easiest way to find next of kin would be to email the funeral directors, most keep copies of the newspaper notices on file.
Cheers Janette
-
I'll do that Janette, thanks so much!!!!

Have just accidentally come across this website, only to see questions about my grandparents - John Green and Elizabeth Henderson Weir.
My father was their youngest son, John Douglas Haig GREEN and I can give you quite a lot of information about him and his brothers and sisters and their children etc.
John and Elizabeth (grandparents) lived in Dunedin until they died. I have all the dates etc. for them and also all of their children.
What a coincidence!

Hi Tommy,
Blochairn may not be able to receive a PM yet as they need to make another two posts to activate the PM facility.
Blochairn, I suggest that you reply twice more to this topic, even a couple of smiley's will do. :D Then you can receive and send PM's and exchange information in private.
Congratulations on finding each other. ;D 8)
