Title: Berlin Wool Business, Holdenhurst/Christchurch
Post by: benzon on Monday 20 August 12 00:12 BST (UK)
I have an ancestor who was living at Seymour Lodge, Richmond Hill, Holdenhurst on the 1891 census.  She describes her occupation as assistant in berlin wool business.  There would appear to be a housekeeper at this address and about eight girls working in the berlin wool business.  Been trying to find some background info on this berlin wool business but have drawn a blank.  Can anyone out there with local history knowledge fill in any details.

Anything, however small, greatfully received.

Thanks

White's Directory for Christchurch, 1859 lists Charlotte and Louisa MOTT as Berlin wool dealers , Cst.

I've no idea what Cst. means.
